Professional Makeup: Complete Guide to Types, Techniques and When It's Worth It

Types of professional makeup, what each session includes, prices and when it pays off versus doing it yourself.
What is professional makeup
Professional makeup stands apart for three reasons: high-end products (better pigmentation, longer wear), specialist tools (natural-hair brushes, precision sponges) and technique that accounts for bone structure, skin undertone and the lighting conditions of your event. It starts with a primer that improves adhesion — this step makes all the difference to how long it lasts.

Yes: long events with no touch-up breaks, flash photography, techniques you haven't mastered (smoky eye, contouring). Perhaps not: a subtle look for a couple of hours, you're already confident with your own products.
