An 8-week plan to arrive at summer with well-cared-for skin, up-to-date hair removal and perfect nails.

It happens every year: July arrives and you have not prepared your skin for the sun, hair removal is behind schedule and your nails are crying out for attention. The difference between winging it and planning is 8 weeks.

Why start in May

A facial leaves the skin sensitised for 48-72 h — in July with the beach, that means a risk of pigmentation. Hair removal needs 2-3 prior sessions. Gel nails need a trial run for shape and longevity.

8-week plan

WeekPriorityTreatment
1SkinDeep facial cleanse
2Hair removalFirst waxing session
3NailsFirst manicure
4Brows + lashesBrow shaping + lash lift
5FeetFull pedicure
6Hair removalSecond waxing session
7Nails + facialManicure upkeep + hydrating facial
8Final touchesBrow touch-up, third wax, pedicure

If you can only choose 3: facial (week 1) + waxing (week 2) + pedicure (week 5).

Weeks 1-2: the foundation

Week 1 — Facial cleanse

A deep facial cleanse clears away winter build-up. The skin absorbs SPF better, tone evens out. Afterwards: SPF 50 is compulsory for 48 h.

Week 2 — First wax

If you have been shaving, the first wax is the most intense. Hair needs to be at least 5 mm. No cream on the day of the appointment. Exfoliate 24-48 h before. More info: bikini waxing guide.

Weeks 3-4: nails, brows, lashes

Week 3 — Manicure

Decide on your summer type: gel polish (2-3 weeks), gel/polygel (3-4 weeks) or acrylics (maximum durability).

Week 4 — Brows + lash lift

Both can be done on the same day (60-70 min). The lash lift lasts 6-8 weeks — it covers the entire summer. It includes a tint: forget about mascara at the beach.

Weeks 5-6: feet and second wax

Week 5 — Pedicure

Your feet have been in closed shoes for months. Hard skin, dry cuticles, dull nails. Gel polish on toes: it withstands sea water and chlorine.

Week 6 — Second wax

Quicker, less painful, smoother skin. Do not resort to shaving between sessions.

Weeks 7-8: maintenance

Week 7 — Manicure + hydrating facial

Nail upkeep + colour change. A facial with hyaluronic acid or vitamin C (30-40 min, no sensitivity period).

Week 8 — Final touches

Brows, third wax, pedicure top-up, check on the lash lift.

Sun protection

SPF 50 on face and decolletage every day. Reapply every 2 hours. No retinol/acids combined with direct sun. Waxed areas: sensitive for 24-48 h. More in our sun protection and beauty treatments guide.

Common mistakes

  • Starting in July
  • Having everything done on the same day
  • Forgetting the feet
  • Not moisturising between treatments
  • Shaving between waxing sessions

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a facial and sunbathe on the same day?

No. Avoid direct sun exposure for 48-72 h. SPF 50 is compulsory.

Does a lash lift withstand sea water?

Yes, after the first 24 h. It is one of the most practical treatments for summer.

Which manicure lasts longest in summer?

Acrylics and gel (3-4 weeks). Gel polish lasts 2-3 weeks but is easier to remove.

Can I wax with tanned skin?

Yes, once the tan has settled. Never on sunburnt skin.
